We need not be afraid because of the Good news (Luke 2:8-14)

Luke starts chapter 2 pointing us to the greatest official of that time and GOD focusing on the humble whom he has chosen. The good news was now shared to the humble shepherds. I liked how the role of the shepherds was described, they were keeping watch in the night. Watching in the night is really a difficult thing to do right? But during their mundane, routine job something unusual happens, an angel appears, the shepherds are scared. When fallen human beings witness something holy our natural response is to be afraid cuz we are unholy. But the angel tells them not to be afraid, because the promised SAVIOUR who will save them from unholiness is born so that we could be made holy. The multitude of angels could only rejoice witnessing what GOD is doing in the history of mankind. The shepherds did not just receive the good news but was directed towards the SAVIOUR. GOD’s favour towards the humble continues till today.

Self reflection:

1. How can you not be afraid because of the good news?
