The GOD assigned, joyful duty for the angels is over and now it’s the shepherd’s turn to witness and proclaim this good news of great joy. The word “now” in v.15 implies that they didn’t wait to witness the good news and took off immediately to Bethlehem, they rightfully believed that the LORD has made this known to them. What joy it is when the LORD makes HIMSELF known to us!! They found the SAVIOUR exactly as the angels said and did not doubt it for a moment. They couldn’t contain this joy that they publicised it widely causing wonder among the people. The humble came to witness a mighty SAVIOR. While the shepherds were widely publicizing it, Mary quietly pondered in her heart the things that the LORD was doing, we do not see her being prideful of giving birth to the SAVIOR, but in awe quietly meditating the deeds of the LORD. Similarly, when the shepherds returned they were not boasting that they got to witness it but were glorying and praising GOD for everything that they had heard and seen. This special CHILD who is named JESUS takes part in the covenant which was given to Abraham, fulfilling the all requirements of the law including circumcision as a human, which others were not able to keep.
Self reflection
1. What are you currently doing? Publiczing quitely or pondering in your heart?
2. Is GOD’s work in your life making you humble?
