The Amazing Savior (Luke 4:31-44)

JESUS did not stop teaching though HE was rejected at Nazareth. HE did not focus on what people did to HIM but rather on what GOD had for HIM. HE went up and preached in the synagogue of Capernaum, the people were astonished at HIS authority. In the synagogue there was a man with an unclean spirit. The demon knew who JESUS was, but how stupid of the demon to challenge the SON OF GOD! JESUS doesn’t converse with the demon but HE rebukes the demon and HE immediately gets out. People are astonished by the power of GOD that when they witness it, they in turn carry this good news to others.

Simon here is Peter the disciple of JESUS. His mother in law is very sick as Luke the doctor mentions that she has great fever, they beg JESUS to heal her cuz they knew HE could do it. JESUS heals her completely and she in turn starts serving JESUS and others. The setting of the sun indicates that the Sabbath is over, and people with sickness and demons come to JESUS to be healed of them. Notice how JESUS takes time to heal every one of them. That is just so amazing. We can also see that JESUS rebukes the demons from talking cuz they twist the truth and are up to no good. We can also stop the thoughts from demons through the WORD of GOD cuz that is the only weapon we can use to fight against him.

V.42 suggests it was day, which indicates that JESUS has been working the whole night caring for the people selflessly. The multitudes still held on to HIM. It is not wrong to hold on to JESUS, but they held on to HIM selfishly. JESUS had a mission to preach the good news to other cities as well and not just stay back comfortably. The Saviour gave HIS life up selflessly for selfish people like us breaking the power of sin and death making us more like HIM.
